One for the Mother’s

Mother’s Day is fast approaching and here at The Passage House Inn we’re really looking forward to spoiling some of the most special people in our lives. Ever since Constance Smith revived Mothering Sunday as “a day in praise of mothers” in 1920, people of all faiths and backgrounds have embraced this Sunday in the middle of Lent as a day in which to shower their Mothers with love and appreciation for all that they have done over the years. Whether you go for the understated approach of just breakfast in bed, a card and a hug or you choose a rather more grand gesture with flowers, chocolates and a meal out at your local riverside pub. You’d be hard pressed to find children that ignore this most special day.

That children (both grown up and small) display their appreciation in a wide variety of ways is indicitive of one of the best things about Mothers; their true uniqueness. Some Mothers will just  appreciate a quiet thoughtful kind word and some would prefer a bit more of a fuss. Both approaches are equally valid as it is important to do what is right for the individual. Some Mother’s are softly spoken, some have an infectious laugh that can be heard down the street, some would rather get dolled up for their special day and some would just love some peace and quiet in their PJ’s whilst their partners remove the children for a few hours. Some Mother’s are strict, taking a hard line approach, some are softly rounded and more easy going. But despite all these differences, they are united in one common factor, their absolute and unconditional love for their children which motivates all that they do.

This year on March 6th we will be offering a selection of mouthwatering specials alongside our popular delicious menu, available from 1200 to 2100.
